Where the hottest retirement spots are: Ocean Pines Maryland is Hot!

Bizjournals finds top retirement choices by the beach, on the mountains, in big towns and small

Bizjournals - February 5, 2007

Overall best choices

America's 10 hottest retirement areas -- places where senior citizens have a strong and rapidly growing presence -- are all in the Sunbelt. No surprise there. But what's unusual is that they're small to medium-sized, ranging from Punta Gorda, Fla. (population: 157,500) to Brevard, N.C. (29,600). Not a major market in the bunch. The hottest place of all is Gardnerville Ranchos, Nev., where the number of seniors has grown by 45 percent in five years.
